BHQ probes are ideal for detecting the presence and quantifying the amount of specific target sequences. Compatible with most popular thermal cyclers, BHQ probes participate in FRET and static quenching for high signal-to-noise ratios and exquisite sensitivity. They are the preferred probe of choice for qPCR as they are the integral assay component in high-throughput projects such as the NIH Knockout Mouse Project (KOMP) and influenza-related qPCR tests selected and designed by domestic and international health agencies.
BHQplus probes incorporate a duplex-stabilizing chemistry that permits the design of shorter oligonucleotides while maintaining optimal probe melting temperature (Tm) for real-time PCR. These probes demonstrate increased binding specificity, stronger stability, and are less likely to mismatch during hybridization, making them ideal in analyzing copy number variation (CNV) and detecting difficult targets such as AT-rich sequences and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP).
